What is a cookie?

It's a small file a website saves in your browser to remember something from one page to the next, such as the fact that you're signed in. This page also covers what we keep in your browser's local storage, which works in a similar way.

The cookies we use

They're all ours (from mateandmeet.com) and the app needs them to work.

• Session

  Keeps you signed in so you don't have to log in again on every page.

  Duration: 30 days

• Security

  Protects signing in and out from forged requests sent by other websites.

  Duration: Until you close your browser

• Return page

  Remembers which page to return to after you sign in.

  Duration: Until you close your browser

• Google sign-in

  Only when you sign in with Google: they check that Google's answer belongs to your sign-in attempt.

  Duration: 15 minutes

Local storage

Besides cookies, we keep a little data in your browser's local storage. It's never sent to our servers on its own.

• Sign-up draft

  Keeps your answers to the first sign-up steps while you fill them in, so a page reload doesn't lose them. It stays on your device until you finish.

  Duration: Until you finish sign-up or sign out

• Tab sync

  Tells your other tabs when you sign out, so they sign out too. It holds no data about you.

  Duration: Until you clear the site's data

Third-party services

If you sign in with Google, the sign-in screen belongs to Google and lives on its own site. There, Google uses its own cookies, under its cookie policy.

We use Sentry to catch errors in the app. It doesn't save cookies in your browser, and its reports don't include your name, your email or your messages.

How to control them

You can see and delete cookies and site data in your browser's settings. If you block Mate&meet's cookies, you won't be able to sign in.

Changes

If we ever add cookies that aren't essential, such as analytics, we'll ask for your permission before using them and update this page.
